Polytechnic Sabah may use desktop grids soon

On 13 January 2014, Delegation from Academic Grid Malaysia (represented by Dr. Abdul Rahim Ahmad) and IDGF South-East Asia Chapter (represented by Muhammad Farhan Sjaugi) visited Polytechnic Sabah in Sandakan, North-East Malaysia. The purpose of the visit was to promote Academic Grid Malaysia infrastructure and also introduce desktop grid technology and IDGF. The host expressed interest to use Desktop Grid and Academic Grid Malaysia infrastructure for their GIS mapping project

Grid User Training with IDGF introduction in Malaysia

Academic Grid Malaysia organised a Grid User Training at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu between 7-9 April, 2014. During the training the grid computing technology was introduced to the participants of various background. The European Grid Infrastructure (EGI), and its various middleware services have been covered by the agenda. Besides service grid, participants were also introduced to the desktop grid technology and IDGF. To make it easier to understand how desktop grid can help science, several Desktop Grid based applications (including SZTAKI KOPI) were shown. Participants also had the opportunity to have consultation with Academic Grid Malaysia experts.
